Plase, Senator, support the Baucus-Tester and Grassley-Baucus amendments to the immigration bill...
The REAL ID program is too damned expensive, and it is a dark and forboding sign of the direction our country is headed, giving up more and more rights and privacy to combat terrorism.
This is supposed to be the United States of America, the center of the "Free World," not a communist regime, where people are catalogued and people's papers are checked at every turn to be sure they are not "against the State."
The more we give up, the more we allow the government to put a stranglehold on it's citizens' rights, the closer they get to utter victory. Because the day we have no freedom and no privacy, they have won. That's what they hate about us is our freedom to choose things that go against their religions, to choose to do as we wish and not be held to account for every decision, and not having every single decision we make dictated to us by our laws and religion.
There would be no greater victory for Osama and the terrorists than to push us into a national database and make us all part of a collective where all must carry our ID everywhere and be unable to take part in what has been guaranteed to all citizens without it.
Please, please, don't take away our rights any further. It's time to make a stand for our liberties and tell the fearmongers, "NO MORE!" Enough of whittling away at our personal liberties.
Thank you.

Dear Senators Nelson and Martinez,
My name is Sergio Andres Lobo-Navia and I am a philosophy major at Loyola University New Orleans. I have lived in Florida since I was born and I am a registered voter. In my various studies as a student of philosophy, I have read and studied the works of such great thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Saint Thomas Aquinas, John Locke, Friedrich Nietzsche, and John Rawls. In my various studies, the one thing I have come to understand about reality is the power of the human spirit, its independence, and its desire to be free of restraint.
Due to my studies, I have serious objections to the REAL ID act. It is overly expensive, not well thought out, and its implications for future society is dangerous. My family fled political repression in Cuba to come to the United States. This law is similar to something that Fidel Castro would use to oppress the Cuban people. I will rue the day in America that a cititzen is asked for their "papers."
We are all living in the shadow of no towers. Some of us are living in the shadow of broken levees. THESE setbacks to our American way of life should not further endanger the rights we hold dear as Americans. The terrorists want us to be cataloged and for us to fear our government. The real ID act is just a dangerous to the American way of life as suicidal jet aircraft and improperly designed flood levees. Focus on the true problems America faces, and don't create new ones.
Please also support the Baucus-Tester and Grassley-Baucus amendments to the immigration bill. Immigration is a very big issue for me as the child of immigrants. I believe that people want to come to America to experience our dream, just like how the Pilgrims, Germans, Irish, Italians, and my own Cuban people did all throughout the annals of American history.
Thank You and God Bless America

I am respectfully requesting that, as my representitive, you support the Baucus-Tester and Grassley-Baucus amendments to the immigration bill.
I firmly believe that forcing National ID cards on us would be a victory for Osama bin Laden and yet another revocation of one of our freedoms.
13060 From Devon M, Phoenix, AZ, 27 June 2007, 11:11:00 PM PST
Dear sirs,
the American people already have a perfectly sufficient form of identification. The proposed RealID offers no more conveniences or benefits to the American people, only a misappropriation of tax funds and an indication that its government doesn't trust the people who employ them. I sincerely urge you to vote against the RealID.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Please support the Baucus-Tester and Grassley-Baucus amendments to the immigration bill.
REAL ID will not help the American people.

Say no to the National ID card. Don't advance an assault on the provacy of decent Americans.
13054 From Marisa B, San Diego, CA, 27 June 2007, 11:05:41 PM PST
Please vote no to the forced National ID bill. It presents an undue burden to both the Americans that would have to carry them and the institutions that would have to enforce their use. There is nothing patriotic about forcing Americans to enter one more database so that they must live under ever more pervasive surveillance. Please help protect our rights and vote no on this bill.

Hello. I'm sending this to remind my Senators that the real ID is against my interests as a constituent. I don't support the unnecessary expense that will be caused by the Real ID and think it is a step in the wrong direction, towards an Orwellian world where all citizens are watched and followed by the government. I am not a communist, and I don't want to live like one. This is another way in which we are letting the fear caused by terrorism eat at us. This sort of thing is what they want. Scaring the people into taking away their own freedoms. If this is the sort of thing that our government things will solve things, then maybe the terrorists really have succeeded. I hope you won't aid them.
13048 From M O B, Rialto, CA, 27 June 2007, 10:57:21 PM PST
Dear Senators,
PLEASE support the Baucus-Tester and Grassley-Baucus amendments to the upcoming immigration bill when you vote. REAL ID is a broad step away from the American ideal, a broad step away from freedom, and a broad step towards an American Fascism. It's also an unnecessarily expensive proposition.
Let's not hear the chilling request for "papers, please!" in these United States.
13047 From Blake G, Seattle, WA, 27 June 2007, 10:55:15 PM PST
The government needs to look within for increased security. With the current lack of accountability for misuse and loss of private data I can't support creating this national ID. The data pool created is much more of a liability to citizens than it ever will be a help to security.
Until strict enforceable privacy polices are in place creating more data to be misused is unacceptable. Please shelve the national ID cards until privacy and misuse can be addressed properly.
